I got home from a long fruitful
journey today. it was past 8 o’clock in the evening when I put on my television
set. I just pushed the power button and walked away. I later passed by my sitting
room and noticed that the set was “audio-less” and it was unusual for a program
not to have any audio to it. I got closer to the set and was amazed to see that
it was the CAF football match between Nigeria and Ivory Coast. Why was it so
silent and so dull? A Nigerian football match? It was then I observed what was wrong.
The commentator was
either
unpaid, didn’t like his task or… he was heartbroken.
Well, you may not agree with me but
those are my reasons for him else how on earth does a match effuse such dry
emotions? How?
Few weeks back, I went out of my
way to lay my hands on Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) 2011, it’s a computer
football game and I have had bad and good times losing matches and scoring
wonderful goals. I tell you, without the unrelenting effort of the commentators,
that game would have been so boring such that I would wonder how I got to
install it in the first place, how much more play it.
The commenting duo Tim Berkley
and Jon Champion (I hope I am right) say so much about the match even though
they do not mention the players by name but they determine the tempo of the
match and to worsen the concept I am brewing…the words they speak are even
recorded so they are repeated over time yet they make the whole game a great
pleasure.
The Nigerian match got even worse
when we lost and the commentator couldnt even differ from my perceived attitude
of him. It was as if he was already rehearsing for us to lose, hence his dull
nature. The match was not so interesting to me but it was better just watching
than listening to that commentator. Gosh! The man wasn’t just it. His middle
name could be tagged “Bored”. Period
Now imagine what I am saying just
in case you didn’t watch the match. Can you picture how dry the match is? For those
who watched, I don’t need to say more.
Now imagine again, what a blog
looks like without COMMENTS!
Imagine again, that you have even
read the article and it has blessed you and you have learnt from it and you
decide not to say ANYTHING about what you read? Come on, that’s not fun, the
blog would look drab and uninviting and worse of all, it will look like you are
rehearsing for a match that is gearing up to be lost.
I am sure you have caught the
drift? Or haven’t you?
I have a blog (
www.lifestamps.blogspot.com) and I
believe there are articles contained within that you could benefit from. Please
visit and read the articles, though some may be quite lengthy but you would be
encouraging me to keep writing and who knows, you may even be doing more.
Do not let lifestamps blog look
like the Nigerian match o. Please do not be dry like that commentator either. Whatever
you say, liked or not, would be respected.
I give you my word!
So go there now, read and be my
COMMENTATOR.
Many thanks.
